About Swishspot

Swishspot began around 2000 when a little know program began to gain momentum within the web design community called Swish. A forum was added at Flashkit.com to cater for Swish users but soon became very crowded and off topic.  A need was born for a new forum site to cater for the growing swish users community and myself with help from two other dedicated swish followers named JD and Frets built a new forum at Swishspot.com

Swishspot grew in size over a couple of years dealing with the development of Swish 1.5 then Swish 2.0.  As a friendly and helpful resource for web developers it became very popular and very busy.  It was not immune to a few technical disasters and not to mention hack attempts but we survived for a few years until one gloomy night when a power outage on the server occurred during a backup and lost most of the data.  A resurrection attempt only partially succeeded and then due to personal problems,  loss of interest etc poor old swishspot became abandoned.

By this stage my interests had shifted and  I had discovered M.A.M.E, a program that allows you to emulate arcade games as long as you have the original programing called a ROM.  Mame stands for Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator and is capable of playing over 4000 original arcade games on your PC.  During my growing interest in Mame I developed a number of Pinball Games and then my own Arcade Cabinet which you can find out more about in another section of this blog site. I then used the abandoned swishspot to host my pinball games that I had created for download  and to share information with other arcade enthusiasts.

Over time I found the website I created for swishspot complicated to maintain and update and recently decided to take a look at wordpress as an alternative. WordPress is ideal due to it’s easy editing and simple layout which has encouraged me to now discuss a variety of topics and to continue to offer my free downloads including a new application nicknamed the Footy Player. The Footy Player is an MP3 player for your PC that is themed in your favourite footy colours (AFL to begin with).

Well now you know a little bit more about this website, it’s history and what I plan to offer here. Check back often and keep up to date with what is going on and please if you wish to contact me you can do so by email mailbrettski(at)gmail(dot)com
